Sony Tablet S series available in US and European markets

Sony Tablet S series available in US and European markets, Sony Tablet S series review, ; Sony's first tablet computer will hit the Japanese market on September 17 2011 as the company looks to take on Apple's popular iPad, the electronics giant said Thursday.

The Sony Tablet will be powered by Google's Android software, allowing users to download content such as books, movies and games.

The Sony Tablet "S" series with a 9.4-inch (23.8 centimetre) touchscreen display is expected to have a price tag of 45,000 yen ($580) for a 16-gigabyte data storage model and 53,000 yen for the 32-gigabyte version.

The product will also become available in US and European markets later this month, with a price tag of $499 and 479 euros for the 16-gigabyte model.

Competitors have rushed to cash in on soaring demand for tablets since the iPad was released in April last year, but Sony's devices will arrive well behind those of its rivals.

The devices will have access to Sony's cloud of online content such as movies, music, digital books, PlayStation games and other entertainment.

Sony has focused more on pushing its content such as games and music through hardware platforms including game consoles, smartphones and tablet computers.

It will release the dual-screened "P" series with a folding design, incorporating two 5.5-inch screens in Japan between October and November. The series will be launched in November in Europe and sometime later this year in the United States.

"Sony aims to grab the No. 1 share of the growing Android-based tablet market (in Japan) in fiscal 2012 (ending March 2013)," Kyodo News quoted Akihiro Matsubara, corporate vice president of Sony Marketing Inc, as saying.

Sony shares rose 1.98 percent to 1,698 yen in Tokyo trade on Thursday.

Apple Stock prices Drops 25 august 2011, Jobs resigning

Apple Stock prices Drops 25 august 2011, Jobs resigning : Apple shareholders on Thursday appeared to be getting over the sudden resignation of Steve Jobs. Apple Inc. shares fell $4.03, or about 1 percent, to $372.16 in midday trading, but the entire market was down by an equal amount as well. In extended trading Thursday evening, the fell more than 5 percent after Apple said Jobs would step down as CEO and hand the job to chief operating officer Tim Cook.

Even if the timing was a surprise, most industry analysts said Jobs' departure from the CEO post was always on the horizon because of ongoing health problems.

Peter Misek at Jefferies & Co. said it was a very positive sign that Jobs will assume the role of chairman. Misek had expected Jobs to depart completely from the company. As chairman, "Jobs will be able to continue to offer his insights and visions for the future of Apple."

The immediate sell-off of Apple for fear of an end to one of the industry's longest winning streaks was overdone, said Ovum analyst Jan Dawson.

new Apple iPhone 5 sell October 2011

new Apple iPhone 5 sell October 2011 : Sprint Nextel, the third largest wireless carrier in the United States, will begin selling Apple's new iPhone 5 in mid-October, U.S. media reported on Tuesday.

Sprint will also carry iPhone 4, the current generation of Apple's hot-selling smartphone, starting at the same time, The Wall Street Journal said in a report, citing people familiar with the situation.

Getting the iPhone is a big win for Sprint, whose results have suffered without being able to sell Apple's popular device, and it will also benefit Apple with the addition of another marketing channel in the Unites States.

AT&T, the second largest U.S. wireless carrier, has relied on previous versions of iPhone to drive its sales since 2007.

Verizon Wireless, the country's No. 1 wireless carrier, began selling the iPhone 4 this February. Numbers showed that Sprint had more than 52 million subscribers at the end of the second quarter, compared with 106 million for Verizon and nearly 99 million for AT&T.

It was reported that Verizon and AT&T will also begin selling the iPhone 5 in mid-October.

Apple News Rumors august 22 2011

Apple News Rumors august 22 2011 ; Mac: The Next Generation: Despite the fact the ultra-thin line of MacBook Air laptops has enjoyed two hardware revisions and unprecedented success in the past 12 months, it appears Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) thinks those devices aren’t enough of a presence in the traditional computer market. A new rumor originating at Macotakara.jp and reprinted at Apple Insider said Apple is preparing an entirely new line of Macs, and those machines might hit the market as soon as this fall.

These new machines will be “absolutely different from current products,” according to an anonymous source within Apple’s Asian supply chain. So different, in fact, that they might end up using an entirely new brand other than “Mac.” This would fall in line with previous rumors that Apple might release a new touchscreen-based Mac with an adjustable screen, bringing its PC business and its handhelds like the iPhone and iPad closer together in terms of functionality.

Google and Apple Up, BlackBerry Down: Research firm the NPD Group released its report on the U.S. smartphone market during the second quarter, and the results look a whole lot like the first quarter. Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) cemented its role as the leading platform holder, with 52% of all smartphones sold during the quarter using the Android operating system. Apple saw a small boost to 29% of all phones sold. Bad news for Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM), though, as BlackBerry phones accounted for just 11% of all smartphone sales. Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows and Hewlett-Packard‘s (NYSE:HPQ) webOS systems accounted for 5% of sales apiece.

Lenovo Doesn’t Fear the iPad: PC manufacturer Lenovo is just one of the technology companies watching the iPad erode its business in 2011. CEO Yang Yuanquing isn’t worried, though. Speaking in a Financial Times report (via All Things Digital), Yuanquing believes Apple’s domination of the consumer portable PC market through the iPad will be short-lived. The reason for this is the device’s high price. “Apple only covers the top tier. With a $500 price you cannot go to the small cities, townships, low salary class, (and) low income class.” Lenovo plans to combat the iPad with a line of Android- and Windows-based tablets.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Stock Prices outlook august 15 2011

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Stock Prices outlook august 15 2011 : AAPL stock trades at about $377 a share (give or take a few bucks in this volatile market), its forward PE ratio of 11.69 and its PEG of 0.61 flaunt it as a value stock due to earnings that consistently beat expectations.

Analysts expect Apple to grow earnings at 22.52% yearly for the next five years. This more than doubles the overall market’s expected earnings rate of 10.27%. Since earnings are directly related to a stock’s price over time, Apple’s stock could double the returns of the stock market. For Apple to do this, they’ll need to stay on top of their game. They’ll need to maintain consistent demand by constantly updating existing products and producing unique new products.

They must keep these products a cut above the competition. Innovation and reliability are Apple’s strong points and when maintained, Apple should remain on top of the "stockpile" for many years. I doubt that companies such as Motorola (MMI) (producer of the Droid) or Research in Motion (RIMM) (Blackberry producer) could innovate better than Apple, but that’s not to say that it’s impossible.

The chart above displays a visual of how well Apple outperformed the performance of the S&P 500 index. Apple’s current price of $377 is trading at a 6.7% discount to its high of $404. I think that Apple is ripe for picking by the end of August. The overall stock market may still be volatile for a few weeks, but my feeling is that we’ll get more positive economic news that will put recession fears at rest. I don’t think that the news will be exceptional, but I do think that it will be positive enough to allow the market to at least return to the levels of where it was in January, perhaps better.

Furthermore, the tech sector usually does well between September through December, so I think that biting into some Apple stock in the second half of August would be prudent as a long-term investment. Even if the market continues to fall for a while and Apple stock follows, we can just look at how they bounced back from the lows in early 2009 and yielded a four-bagger (400%) increase in less than three years. So, even if you bought Apple at $200 in 2007 and kept it until now, you would have doubled your money (minus the recent pullback).

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Stock Review week july 30 2011

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Stock Review week july 30 2011 : In the tech sector, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), the maker of iPads and iPhones, was a bright star, with shares climbing 1.32% to $398.50 after touching on the $400 per share mark to post a new all-time high. Apple caught a bid as the next catalyst, the launch of the new iPhone 5, following its blow out earnings last week looms.

The company is expected to schedule an event for some time late August, in which it will unveil the nextGen iPhone, which is also expected to be a dual band phone, able to work on CDMA and GSM networks. Numerous brokerages have raised their price targets above $500 per share, as they expect the stock to outperform in the second part of the year. Last week, Apple said that its new Lion OS topped on million downloads in the first day of availability.

Meanwhile, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) climbed 1.3% to $403.70 after posting a new all-time high at $404.50, as momentum in the stock continued following the stellar earnings report from last week and as numerous brokerage houses have raised their target prices above $500 as they expect outperformance in the second half of the year to continue amid the launch of the next generation iPhone in September. Apple crossed the $400 mark for the first time ever in regular session, after HTC Corp., the Taiwanese smartphone maker, said that it willing to negotiate with Apple for the use of its patents, after the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled on July 15th that HTC had infringed 2 Apple patents.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) fell 2.68% to $392.59, with the stock accelerating its losses in the afternoon, giving back its prior session gains. Apple was weak along the whole market over uncertainties regarding the global growth amid debt woes, which spur participants to shun risk and take some profits in highflying names like Apple, which have rallied from $310 in mid June.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) fell 0.20% to $391.82 after trading as high as $396.99. During the session, there were some rumors and speculation that the tech giant has discussed internally the possibility to make an offer for Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS).

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) fell 0.34% to $390.48 after chopping around the neutral line on most of the session after trading as low as $384 on concern over the debt ceiling negotiation and as GDP retreated with consumers pulling back in the first and second quarter and as consumer sentiment fell to the lowest in almost 2 years. The tech giant, which had its cash holdings compared with the U.S. government, was still seeing participants willing to buy on weakness as analysts expect outperformance from Apple in the second half of the year.

Apple (AAPL) stock prices prediction 2012 - 2013

Apple (AAPL) stock prices prediction 2012 - 2013 ; IPhone and iPad sales are booming. There are new Mac computers in the pipeline. The stock hit $400 earlier this week. The only threats: The stock market and Steve Jobs' health.

Nine days after Apple (AAPL) blasted through earnings estimates, the stock is performing better than the market overall -- a sign that about the only thing that can knock the stock down is financial panic.

In fact, the one certainty about Apple right now is that it's hard to find anyone who thinks there's something wrong with the company or the stock. The one issue that's been able to knock Apple shares lower have been concerns about CEO Steve Jobs' health.

The stock is up 23% this year, and there are projections that it will overtake Exxon Mobil (XOM) as the world's most valuable company in no more than 12 months. Exxon's market capitalization is about $406 billion; Apple's is $366 billion.
Nicholae Mihalache, a Romanian mathematician who teaches at the University of Paris, told CNN Money he thinks Apple shares could hit $550 next year and $850 by the end of 2013.

The stock hit $400 a share on Monday and reached an all-time high of $404.50 on Tuesday before closing at $403.41. The Dow Jones industrials ($INDU) lost nearly 180 points on those two days. On Wednesday, the Dow slumped 199 points, and Apple fell back to $392.59.

Today, Apple is up 1% to $396.48, contributing nearly 3.5 points to the 30-point gain of the Nasdaq-100 Index ($NDX.X). It's up 4.8% from its July 19 close -- before the company released its fiscal-third-quarter profits. The Nasdaq-100 is down very slightly from its July 19 close; the Dow is off about 1.9%.

So far, Apple's biggest problem is making enough iPads, iPhones and Macintosh computers to satisfy the demand. IPhone unit sales were up 142% from a year ago. IPad sales were up 150%. And the iPhone has a new model coming out probably in mid-September. The company is likely to generate more than $100 billion in revenue in the current fiscal year.

Sure, Apple could saturate the potential market for iPhones and iPads. But it may take some years and new products that supplant them.

The iPod is instructive here. Sales of iPods have been slipping. Unit sales were off 20% and revenue of $1.32 billion was down 14% from a year ago. Weep not for the iPod, however. It's still a pretty good business with sales of maybe $5.2 billion.

And even if the iPod business isn't growing, its legacy is easily assured. The iPod started Apple's transformation from a cool maker of computers to a cool maker of gadgets and computers. That's why the company changed its name in 2007 from Apple Computer to simply Apple.

When it comes to smartphone sales, Apple is in a pretty tough dog-fight. Phones built on Google's Android platform are ramping up, but none has a brand name that's as instantaneously recognizable as iPhone -- which, by the way, is a $50-billion-a-year business by itself. And the iPhone's cachet is that there are millions of aps that go along with it.

At the same time, the iPhone has devastated the image of Research In Motion's (RIMM) BlackBerry as a must-have device. RIM sales are still climbing, but profit margins are shrinking, and the company's management structure is under fine. The stock is off 55% this year alone.

And the iPad is fast turning into a must-have gadget that developers have turned into something business can use. Since Apple invented the tablet, no one has come close to creating a competitive product. Doctors use it to upload X-rays and medical records. Apple is using what it's learned from the iPad to design a new ultralight Mac computer that may compete with offerings from other computer makers.

Net income in the period more than doubled to $7.31 billion, or $7.79 a share, from $3.25 billion, or $3.51, a year earlier, Apple said yesterday in a statement. Sales climbed 82 percent to $28.6 billion. Analysts had predicted profit of $5.87 a share and revenue of $25 billion, according to Bloomberg data.

IPhone sales were buoyed by international demand, particularly in China, where total revenue jumped sixfold to $3.8 billion. After overcoming supply shortages for the iPad 2 following its March debut, Apple saw sales of the tablet soar. The device is now its second-biggest revenue source -- behind the iPhone -- less than two years after first being introduced.

Tweezer tops are exactly the opposite of tweezer bottoms, as they define a resistance point for Apple that needs to be digested prior to the stock price to move higher.
